Bishop | Bishop got out of the Army at the end of November in 2003. Now she is a student at Ohio State studying Arabic and International Relations with a focus on the Middle East. She spent the summer in Syria and other parts of the Middle East. Look forward to the annual Christmas party again this year at her place on December 27th, 2005. |
Bob |
Bob graduated from the University of Iowa in 2002, but he went back immediately to study computer science there. He is now in their PhD program. Bob has a website for you to viist at www.cs.uiowa.edu/~rarens and an online journal at martian_bob.livejournal.com |
Brother of Lud | Brother of Lud got married last year (2004) to his best friend from high school, Abby. He has left Rare Medium and joined Aryanstone, which seems to be doing really well and is going 'on the road' this fall. |
Cassie | Cassie is now finished with her program at Bryn Mawr and after spending a year at Harvard in what she described as "the job of my dreams" she has been accepted to the University of Minnesota medical school. Yay! |
Dana | Dana graduated in 2002 from Mankato State University. She was working as an eye glasses specialist for a long time, but recently got a job as a receptionist and we all hope she'll be much happier. She and her sister have an apartment together in Minnesota. |

Jacob | Jacob just passed the foreign service exam and got an awesome job in a rural part of Japan where he will be representing the US in their international relations of all kinds, including teaching English. This is wicked cool and I personally am proud of Sparkey. |
Jamie | Jamie and Casey Smith got married on September 24th, 2005. Seth was the best man and Mary was a bride's maid. I hope some cool pics of their wedding will soon be on this site, but for now you can buy some here. They went on a cruise for their honeymoon, but Jamie is back at his job, which he only described as working in a cubicle with no door. |
Jay |
In May of 2002, Jay and I had dinner at the top of Berlin's Fernseh Tower and we very much enjoyed the asparagus. Jay was attending the Univesrity of Wisconsin at Madison at the time. That night was the last I saw of Jay. His non-functioning website is www.theletterjay.com. And Kira sees him and says he's doing great. |
Justin | Justin and Amy Sauter got married on August 18th, 2001. Justin is still working nights at Target, but he now has a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota. He and Amy just closed on their own house! |
Katie |
Katie and Tony got married on June, 12th of 2004. There are pictures of their wonderful wedding here. Now they are living in Cape Verde as Peace Corps volunteers, where they are learning the local creole and Portugese, a language I'm not sure I spelled right. I recommend trying to get on Katie's e-mail list because her e-mails about their Cape Verde experience are fascinating. |
Kira | Kira and Jeff got married in August of 2004 and she is now Kira Tift Thomas. Soon after the wedding they traveled around Europe for four months, but returned to the US in July. Now Kira is back working at Wells Fargo and is contemplating Law School. You can see pictures of the time Robert and I spent with them in Dresden and Berlin here. |
Mary |
Mary has moved to Philadelphia to set up a theater company with a friend of hers from Mankato, which sounds unassailably cool. She is currently working there as the person who picks out the movies for the public library, so if your library is her library, you know who to praise (or blame). |
Mike | I recently saw Mike at Jamie's wedding and still I can offer you little to no information on his life. He stalwartly refused to allowed me to refer to his currently lifestyle as that of a "hobo" (which is how it had been described to me). He is a professional traveller who is reported to be eating out of dumpsters (by Seth), but when I saw him was wearing an Armani suit. He has son named Alex who lives in Minnesota. |
Nathan | Nathan left the South Pole after spending a year there. Then he got a job as a meteorologist at the Minneapolis airport. Then he bought a house in a great location in Minneapolis which he and Karl painted together. He graduated this spring from St. Thomas College with a degree in Geography and was immediately offered awesome jobs. But he turned them down, sold the house, and is now living it up as a vagabond in Ireland. Here's to the pedestrian dream! |
Nomad | When I last saw her, Beth was living in Indianapolis and just got a job teaching courses in world religions at Ball State. She has an MA from King's College, London. But I heard she recently moved to Chicago to be with her boyfriend Mike and is currently working as a graphic designer. And now they are engaged! The ring is on her website: nomadbeth.livejournal.com. |

Sprite | Sprite is living in Oregon with his wife Johanna and their four children, Catherine (2000), Maryssa (2001), Myranda (2002) and Nick (2004). Last I heard he was working at Starbucks and thinking about heading back to school. But this is a bit out of date. |
Stephanie | Stephanie lives with her family to Waco, Texas, where Graham has started an MFA in Directing at Baylor. They have three beautiful daughters: Eva, Paige and Emily.
