We are sitting on the inside, but the light from the door makes it possible to see through the chain mail wall. The star of David above the door was rescued from the original synagogue by a man who came in the night after the synagogue had been destroyed, dragged it home on his bicycle, and kept it hidden in his house until the war was over.
